Maple Bay Farm & Natural Area (473 acres)
Play ball on the grounds of an old farm house, or take a short walk to the beach. This is a great place to spend the day, so do not forget to bring a picnic. This preserve includes a short trail through hemlock forests to the sandy shoreline of East Grand Traverse Bay. The County-owned property on the east side of US-31 offers excellent bird-watching opportunities.
Head to Maple Bay during the warm windy summer days and catch a beautiful view of kites flying high above the water along with the kite boarders attached. This is also a great place to take a short ski with the dogs during the winter months.
DIRECTIONS:
Maple Bay is located approximately 5 miles north of Acme along US-31. The entrance to the Conservancy parcel and parking area is located approximately one mile north of Angel Road on the west side of US-31.
